How to poach an egg

Ingredients

Ever wanted to make the perfect poached egg at home? Follow our quick and easy recipe! 

  • 1 medium RSPCA Assured egg - as fresh as possible
  • 1 dessertspoon of mild vinegar to cook 
Method
  • Fill a small saucepan nearly to the top with water.
  • Add a dessertspoon of mild vinegar.
  • Bring the water to the boil.
  • Break the egg into a ramekin or small cup.
  • Using a whisk create a whirlpool in the water and drop in the egg gently.
  • Maintain the heat at a gentle boil (constant small bubbles breaking the surface).
  • Cook for 4 minutes for set white and runny yolk.
  • Remove carefully with a slotted spoon.
